Dalia Donadio - Stimme
Linda Vogel - Harfe, Stimme

Tobias Meier — Saxophon (3 & 9)
Silvan Jeger — Kontrabass (4 & 13)
Lukas Mantel — Schlagzeug (2 & 12)

After their debut album "Ich Als Du", the duo Schwalbe & Elefant present their 2nd act: "2. Akt". Sensitively yet directly, singer Dalia Donadio and harpist Linda Vogel explore very different worlds of feelings and sounds. Schwalbe & Elefant's Swiss German lyrics tell stories that are sometimes down to earth, sometimes fragile and always enthralling. Word snippets and wordplay condense to form narratives, in which confidence and vulnerability are not opposites. Donadio uses her dialect to find precise verbal imagery: a story "chnüblet" (grasps) the heart with bony fingers, or a "fägnäscht" (restless person) "chräsmet" (creeps) through the body. The harpist Vogel surprises with numerous sound effects: rhythmic patterns, interspersing tones and synthesiser effects sharpen the verbal imagery. On "2. Akt", a song can last six minutes – or just 48 seconds. The duo give the music the time and space that it needs. Be they chiselled miniatures, melodious songs or improvised snapshots, the tracks possess humour (conveyed, for instance, in the global perspective on the Panama Canal in "panamakanal") and voice subtle criticism (of artiness, for example, in "kunschtnaturell"). The musicians do not let themselves get caught up in a digital whirlwind, but instead find inspiration in real, corporeal experiences. Sometimes the duo expand to become a trio: Tobias Meier (sax), Silvan Jeger (double bass) and Lukas Mantel (drums) each add to two songs on the album. Sophisticated down to the last note, "2. Akt" immediately prompts an urge to hear it for a second and third time.

Nach ihrem Debütalbum «Ich Als Du» präsentiert das Duo «Schwalbe & Elefant» ihren «2. Akt».
