about

"Ochotona Calls" is Eva-Maria Karbacher's first solo album and offers an insight into her musical world through three freely improvised soprano saxophone solos.
The album title refers to the small mammal Ochotona, which lives in the mountains of North America and Asia and uses its calls as warning and recognition signals. Similar to the lively and agile nature of the small animal, Karbacher's music takes listeners on a journey through multi-layered and ever-changing soundscapes.
The recordings document Karbacher's musical development over the past years and reveal her passion as a saxophone player and improviser. Through curiosity and eagerness to experiment, she has developed a unique style that combines technical precision with creative expression. The solos on the album "Ochotona Calls" are both intimate and powerful and show Karbacher's ability to use the soprano saxophone as a means of expression in its full range.
"Ochotona Calls" reveals the various facets of Karbacher's music and creativity and is an impressive testimony to her improvisational artistry.
