about

David Meier & Ramon Landolt’s music plays with the transitory state of the present, future and past. By manipulating perspective and time horizon, the duo transforms sounds and field recordings from urban areas into music that deals with transition and change. Starting with drums and synthesizers, expanded by voice, sampling and live processing, the duo creates abstract spaces in which complex structures and rhythmic shapes revolve around a sometimes invisible pulse.

On their new album “Territory” (WideEarRecords, 2022), electronic-like earthy percussion sounds meet synthetically generated raindrop shapes and are fused into an organic whole, such as in “Texture / Slightly Elevated”. While “At Home in the Green” reveals the city dweller’s constant desire for nature, the piece “But Beyond the Ordinary” zooms into the microscopic fragments of human’s desire for upgrade. “Intentions” decodes advertising slogans from the international real estate market and thus provides an ironic twist on the realities of the 21st century.

The concept of the album and some pieces were inspired and developed in collaboration with the experimental architecture office “Rotative Studio”.

The musicians David Meier (Schnellertollermeier) and Ramon Landolt (Trio Heinz Herbert) have been working together in this duo since 2017.
